November New Releases I’m Excited For

Published by A Trip Down Literary Lane on

With November just around the corner, there are plenty of new book releases to look forward to.

Naturally, I’ve been drawn to many of the historical fiction and mystery titles. I’ve seen quite a few offering both gripping stories and fascinating characters you’ll be sure to fall in love with.

Whether you’re in search of a suspenseful page-turner or a trip to the past, look no further! Here are my top five most anticipated November releases, perfect for lovers of both genres!

Where The Library Hides – Isabel Ibanez (Secrets of the Nile #2)

Expected publication: November 5, 2024

Genres: Historical Fiction, Mystery, Adventure, Young Adult

Pages: 400

Setting: Egypt, 1885

Where The Library Hides is the second book in the Secrets of the Nile series. I haven’t read the first book, What The River Knows, so I’m not sure how much of the summary contains spoilers from it! I’ll give you a very brief rundown just in case!

Inez Olivera is the lead in Where The Library Hides. Set in Egypt in 1885, the story follows her journey from loss to love. It promises a historical fantasy adventure which is sure to appeal to many!

I can picture a big opportunity for strong character development of Inez. I find it fascinating seeing how different characters in different settings deal with their grief. With the added touch of fantasy and a potentially perilous ultimatum, I’m intrigued to see how Inez deals with her grief.

Eleanore Of Avignon – Elizabeth DeLozier

Expected publication: November 5, 2024

Genres: Historical Fiction

Pages: 320

Setting: Provence, 1347

This story sounds perfect for me and I can’t wait to get round to reading this one!

In medieval Europe, Eleanore Blanchet is a midwife with a keen interest as a herbalist. After becoming an apprentice to the pope’s physician, she is overcome with challenges. She must battle the societal judgement of her interests, adjust to the high status of her new position, and help save the city from the Black Death spreading through the country.

I can’t wait to get to know Eleanore. From the summary, I imagine her being very down to earth and selfless but also standing up for herself. I’m rooting for her already!

It definitely sounds like the stakes are high. I will be most interested in seeing Eleanore navigate her simple interest as a herbalist through the pressures and struggles of her time period.

The Lake Of Lost Girls – Katherine Greene

Expected publication: November 5, 2024

Genres: Mystery, Crime, Thriller

Pages: 320

Setting: North Carolina, 1998

Greene brings us a good old mystery which promises lots of twists and turns!

In 1998 at a university in North Carolina, female students are going missing. One of these is the sister of the main character, Lindsey. Years later, Lindsey uses a popular true crime podcast to guide her in hopefully finding her lost sister.

I think this is a fascinating idea for a story. I love the idea of Lindsey using a podcast to inform her investigation. Despite the horrific loss of her sister, it highlights her role as an ordinary woman grappling at whatever she can to find closure.

The Sunflower House – Adriana Allegri

Expected publication: November 12, 2024

Genres: Historical Fiction, Romance

Pages: 336

Setting: Germany, 1939

I love getting lost in a WWII story and The Sunflower House is just that!

After being forced into her role as a nurse, Allina Strauss must hide her Jewish identity while saving herself and the many innocent children in her care.

This sounds like it will be an incredibly moving story. It will be nice to see the relationships that Allina builds along the way with the children and/or their mothers. I’m especially eager to learn the lengths that Allina goes to in order to survive the horrors she inevitably experiences.

The House Of Cross – James Patterson (Alex Cross #33)

Expected publication: November 25, 2024

Genres: Mystery, Crime, Thriller

Pages: 416

Setting: America, modern-day

This is astonishingly book thirty three of the Alex Cross series. While have been planning on reading the Alex Cross books for a while, I had no idea just how many there were! With the Cross TV series set to premier on Amazon Prime Video on November 14, there’s much to be excited about!

Alex Cross is called to track down the serial killer responsible for a growing list of brutal murders. When his wife and best friend both go missing, Cross finds himself on an even more dangerous mission to find the truth.

With this one, I’m sure there will be plenty of fast paced action balanced with just the right amount of suspense in between. I’m interested in how the murders are linked with the disappearance of Cross’ wife and friend, if at all. This mission is a tough one, even for the heroic Alex Cross.
